Tuscaloosa (City)

Family #TUSC-1 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35401

This family is currently caring for two male kinship placements, ages 4 and 5. They would greatly benefit from a volunteer who can provide monthly care packages filled with arts and crafts, opportunities for outdoor and community-based activities, and fun playdates. Additional support with babysitting, transportation, and occasional educational help would also make a meaningful difference for this family.

Family #TUSC-2 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35401
This kinship caregiver recently took in another child through placement, adding to the care of three grandchildren, ages 9, 8, and 4. With multiple special needs in the home and the recent loss of a close family member, this caregiver and the children in the home could use a Love Box match that could provide encouragement, relief, and tangible help such as meals, childcare assistance, or other resources.

Family #TUSC-3 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35404
This family currently has four children in the home, including three biological children ages 8, 5, and 1, as well as a 9-month-old foster placement. They would benefit from a dependable volunteer who can serve as their “go-to” babysitter, someone they can count on for consistent support and care when needed.

Family #TUSC4 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35401
This family is provisionally licensed through DHR and recently opened their home to a young girl. They have a close relationship with her brother, who is placed with their best friend, and they are committed to helping the siblings maintain a strong connection. As they adjust to life as a new foster family, they would deeply appreciate some practical support — whether that’s occasional help with meals, groceries, clothing, or other everyday needs. They are also in need of a few specific items, including toys and a step stool, as they continue creating a comfortable and welcoming space for their new placement.

Family #TUSC-5 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35406
This family has two teenage biological children and recently welcomed a 2-month-old into their home. As they adjust to life with a newborn again, they would greatly appreciate support with household essentials, diapers and wipes, and the occasional shared meal. A little extra help during this busy season would mean so much as they pour love and care into their newest placement.

Family #TUSC-6 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35405
This family has been fostering since 2021. The family is in a season of weariness and could greatly benefit from someone pouring into them as their emotional tank feels close to empty. Practical support like help with African American hair care, childcare for date nights, and encouragement during ongoing medical challenges would be a gift. Gas cards for frequent doctor visits and a presence at the children’s extracurricular activities would also go a long way in helping them feel seen and supported.

MATCHED! Family #TUSC-7 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35404
This newly licensed foster and adoptive family welcomed their first placement in June 2025—two siblings, ages 6 and 4, who have been in care for about three years. As first-time foster parents, they are navigating the learning curve of foster care while offering a stable, loving home. While the children are well provided for in many ways, the family could benefit from community, encouragement, and practical help—such as meals or gift cards for clothing, groceries, or family outings.

MATCHED! Family #TUSC-8 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35405
This family recently expanded overnight from one child to six, welcoming five children through foster and kinship placement- including a newborn, several school-aged children, and teens. Since welcoming the children in February, they’ve been working hard to adjust and are beginning to find their new rhythm.

Family #TUSC-9 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35405
This foster family opened their home to meet a need after learning that a child they had known for several years through school was in need of placement. Having known the child for about 4–5 years, they felt called to step in and provide a safe and loving environment. Like any new placement, it’s been a time of adjustment — both for the child and for the family — as they navigate this transition together. They would greatly appreciate support through occasional babysitting, family experiences, and help with transportation to therapy appointments when possible. The child attends therapy every 2–3 weeks at 2:00 p.m., and since the caregiver’s workday ends at 3:00, help with appointments would be especially meaningful.

Family #TUSC-10 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35401
This blended family stays busy with a full and joyful household! They have one child in college, a junior in high school, and identical twin 13-year-old boys who were adopted after being a NICU placement. Life for them is always on the move. Their newest placement is a bright and energetic 4-year-old girl who is thrilled to be starting “big kid” school this year and will begin dance classes soon. She loves all things pretend, dress-up, and outdoor play. This active family enjoys spending time together outdoors and cheering on their dancer and basketball player.

Family #TUSC-11 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35404
This family is currently fostering their 2-year-old nephew and is adjusting to life with a busy toddler in the home. They would love support in the form of clothing, shoes, and toys for their nephew, as well as curated monthly care packages and resource-based assistance with essential items. They’re also interested in mentorship, outdoor community activities, and playdates when possible. Consistent encouragement and connection would mean so much as they continue to care for and nurture their young nephew.

Family #TUSC-12 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35404

This foster mom is caring for three teenage girls and is deeply committed to providing them with a safe, stable, and loving home. She would greatly appreciate support in meeting the girls’ practical needs through clothing, shoes, hygiene products, and curated monthly care packages. Consistent encouragement and relational support would also mean a lot as she continues to nurture the overall well-being of the teens in her care.

Family #TUSC-13 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35405
This family is currently fostering an active, strong-willed toddler who never stops smiling! He loves spending time outdoors, playing with trucks, cars, and life-size play kitchens or houses. Some of his favorite things include Marvel, Bluey, and Paw Patrol, and he’s always up for hugs, kisses, and mealtime — he’ll eat just about anything! The family is especially looking for relational support and opportunities to connect more deeply within the foster care community. Building relationships, finding encouragement, and being part of a supportive network would mean so much as they continue to pour love and care into their energetic little one.

Family #TUSC-14 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35406
This family has been fostering since 2019 and is currently adjusting to life as a family of five. Both parents work in service-oriented roles—one as a social worker and the other as a special education teacher. With two young children of their own and a foster placement added to the mix, life is full and busy. They would love the support of a volunteer who can walk alongside their family during this season—offering encouragement, care packages, and support as they balance the joys and challenges of parenting and foster care.

Family #TUSC-15 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35406
This couple has been married for 18 years and have two biological sons, ages 7 and 8. Their family began their foster care journey in 2022 and is currently caring for a teenage boy. With two active boys who both play baseball, their family schedule stays full of practices, games, and activities. They’re active members of Trinity Presbyterian Church and value faith, family, and connection. They would love support in maintaining balance during this busy season and ensuring each child feels seen, supported, and cared for as they continue to open their home to children in foster care.

Family #TUSC-16 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35406
This is a first-time foster family with a 5-year-old biological son who recently welcomed their first placement — a 2-year-old boy. As they navigate the early stages of fostering, they’ve encountered the challenges that come with learning the system and adjusting to a new routine. They are so grateful for the support they’ve had so far. Their biggest need right now is occasional babysitting support, which would allow them to rest, regroup, and continue giving their best to both of the boys in their care.

Family #TUSC-17 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35406
This family became foster parents in September and are currently caring for a two-year-old little boy. They also have an eight-year-old daughter and have loved building community together. They are excited to be whatever their child in foster care needs them to be for as long as he is with them and are passionate about serving and giving back to their community in any way they can.

Family #TUSC-18 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35404

This first-time foster family with three biological children recently welcomed their first placement, a sweet two-month-old baby. As they adjust to life as a family of six, support in the form of meals, occasional babysitting, helpful resources, groceries, and gift cards would be greatly appreciated. This season of transition is both exciting and stretching, and any encouragement or practical help would mean so much as they step into this new chapter.

Family #TUSC-19 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35405
This foster mom is a wife and mother of two and currently cares for two foster children in her home. She owns and operates her own business and has a long-standing heart for helping others. After her biological children grew up and left home, she felt a strong calling to step into foster care. She would appreciate support through things like shared meals, groceries, household essentials, and encouragement as she continues caring for children in need during this season.

Family #TUSC-20 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35405
This family stepped into kinship care for two nieces and two nephews, bringing their household to eight children. As they navigate this new season, they would greatly appreciate support through clothing for the children, along with ongoing encouragement and availability for support. Walking alongside them in practical and relational ways would make a meaningful difference for this busy and loving family.

She is navigating the balance of caring for little ones while managing her demanding work in child welfare, and she would deeply appreciate some extra support during this busy season. Help around the house (like occasional cleaning) and/or help with transportation for the kids on days she has to work late would be super helpful.

Family #NP-2 - Located in Northport, 35473
This family has been fostering since 2014 and recently continued that journey after moving to the area. Deeply committed to providing stability and long-term support, they are hoping to connect with a volunteer who can feel like an extension of their family and be actively involved in the girls’ lives.

Family #NP-4 - Located in Northport, 35475
This loving foster home is made up of a devoted single mom, her biological daughter, and a medically fragile child in foster care. Their days are often full with doctor and hospital visits, and they would be so grateful for a Love Box group that can provide consistent, practical support. Whether it’s help with household items like laundry detergent, a warm meal after a long day of appointments, or simply encouragement and connection during a busy season, any support would mean so much. A match with someone who has medical knowledge or experience would also be especially meaningful, as it would allow for deeper understanding and support of their unique situation.

Family #NP-5 - Located in Northport, 35476

Beyond practical help, they would value emotional support and encouragement as they navigate the ups and downs that can come with fostering, including the grief of saying goodbye after long placements. Opportunities to connect with other adults and build meaningful relationships would make a meaningful difference for this family during this season.
