MEET THE FAMILIES:

If you're interested in walking alongside one of these amazing families,
please click
here for more information on our Love Box program!
Tuscaloosa (City)

Family #1 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35401

This family is currently caring for two male kinship placements, ages 4 and 5. They would greatly benefit from a volunteer who can provide monthly care packages filled with arts and crafts, opportunities for outdoor and community-based activities, and fun playdates. Additional support with babysitting, transportation, and occasional educational help would also make a meaningful difference for this family.

MATCHED! Family #2 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35401
This is a first-time foster family with no other children currently in the home. They are caring for their first foster placement, a child who has experienced significant trauma. As they work through behavioral challenges and adjust to becoming new parents, they would benefit from support, encouragement, and connection with others who understand the unique journey of foster care. A volunteer who can walk alongside them, offer understanding, and help build community would be incredibly valuable.

Family #3 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35404
This family currently has four children in the home, including three biological children ages 8, 5, and 1, as well as a 9-month-old foster placement. They would benefit from a dependable volunteer who can serve as their “go-to” babysitter, someone they can count on for consistent support and care when needed.

Family #4 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35404
This family consists of twin sisters who are currently fostering two children and semi-regularly caring for two additional children on weekends to assist a working mom. They would benefit from occasional help with babysitting and general support around the house. Monthly meals or grocery assistance would also be a great help. More than anything, they are hoping to build a sense of community and connection as they pour into the lives of the children in their care.

Family #5 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35406
This family recently received their first foster care placement and now has two young sisters in their home, soon to be 3 and 4 years old. They also have 13-year-old twin daughters who are excited to welcome and support their new foster sisters. This family would benefit from a volunteer who can offer consistent support through relationship-building, encouragement, and practical help.

Family #6 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35405
This family has been fostering since 2021. The family is in a season of weariness and could greatly benefit from someone pouring into them as their emotional tank feels close to empty. Practical support like help with African American hair care, childcare for date nights, and encouragement during ongoing medical challenges would be a gift. Gas cards for frequent doctor visits and a presence at the children’s extracurricular activities would also go a long way in helping them feel seen and supported.

Family #7 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35404
This newly licensed foster and adoptive family welcomed their first placement in June 2025—two siblings, ages 6 and 4, who have been in care for about three years. As first-time foster parents, they are navigating the learning curve of foster care while offering a stable, loving home. While the children are well provided for in many ways, the family could benefit from community, encouragement, and practical help—such as meals or gift cards for clothing, groceries, or family outings.

Family #8 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35401
This kinship caregiver recently took in another child through placement, adding to the care of three grandchildren, ages 9, 8, and 4. With multiple special needs in the home and the recent loss of a close family member, this caregiver and the children in the home could use a Love Box match that could provide encouragement, relief, and tangible help such as meals, childcare assistance, or other resources.

Family #9 - Located in Tuscaloosa, 35405
This family recently expanded overnight from one child to six, welcoming five children through foster and kinship placement- including a newborn, several school-aged children, and teens. Since welcoming the children in February, they’ve been working hard to adjust and are beginning to find their new rhythm.

Northport

MATCHED! Family #10 - Located in Northport,  35473
This family is currently caring for their three biological children along with a six-year-old foster placement. They would benefit from a volunteer who can offer a sense of community and connection. Occasional help with babysitting would be appreciated, and they would especially value a volunteer who has children of their own for their foster placement to build friendships and enjoy playtime with.

Family #11 - Located in Northport, 35475
This family lives in Northside and includes five children, four biological and one adopted through international adoption. The mother homeschools all of the children, while the father serves as a firefighter. They are new to fostering and have provided respite care so far, but are currently awaiting a long-term placement. They would love a Love Box volunteer who is open to building a relationship through babysitting, spending time with the family, and providing monthly care packages filled with encouragement and support.

Family #12 - Located in Northport, 35473
This young family stepped into foster care unexpectedly when two boys, ages 11 and 12, were placed in their home. After a brief stay in another foster home that didn’t work out, the boys were reunited with this family, who are now navigating life with three children—including their own 1.5 year-old daughter. A Love Box volunteer could come alongside them with encouragement, meals, and practical support as they continue to pour themselves out in this unexpected, but deeply meaningful, journey.

Family #13 - Located in Northport, 35473
This experienced foster family has been fostering for over 9 years and is currently caring for five foster children in addition to their two biological children. Their home focuses on medically fragile children, and they are currently caring for two children who use wheelchairs. With a full and demanding household, they would greatly benefit from ongoing support through encouragement, practical help, and consistent care.

Tuscaloosa County

Family #14 - Located in Cottondale, 35453
This large family is currently caring for seven children, including their three biological children and two sibling sets placed through kinship care. They would really benefit from a volunteer who can walk alongside them by helping with the cost of extracurricular activities for the older kids such as gymnastics or archery. Support with transportation and occasional babysitting would also make a big difference in easing the day-to-day demands of their busy home.

Family #15 - Located in Coker, 35452
This family currently has nine children in the home and would greatly benefit from additional support. One-on-one time with the children and opportunities to build a stronger sense of community would be especially meaningful. Help with extracurricular activities and assistance with transportation would also provide valuable relief and encouragement for the caregivers.

MATCHED! Family #16 - Located in Moundville, 35474
This single-parent family includes two biological children, one adoptive child, and one current placement—three girls and one boy. They would benefit from a volunteer who can create fun and engaging experiences for the family, such as hosting a game night or movie night. A monthly care package filled with holiday or seasonal items, small celebrations, or basic home essentials would also bring joy and meaningful support to this family.

Family #17 - Located in Lakeview, 35111
This family has been fostering for the past two years and is deeply committed to creating a loving home. They would benefit from a caring volunteer who can offer support through occasional babysitting for date nights or special events, giving the parents much-needed breaks. Encouraging notes and prayers would also be a meaningful source of support and connection for this family.

This family includes one biological daughter who is six and a foster daughter who just turned one. They would benefit from a volunteer who can offer support through relationship-building, encouragement, and care. Help with babysitting, monthly care packages, and quality time with the children would be a meaningful way to come alongside this family as they navigate both the joys and challenges of parenting and foster care.

Family #19 - Located in Duncanville, 35456
This family has been fostering since December 2023 and currently has two children in their home, an 11-month-old boy and an 11-year-old girl. They would benefit from a volunteer who can offer consistent support through relationship-building, encouragement, and practical help. A Love Box match could make a meaningful impact by providing care packages, spending quality time with the children, and helping the family feel seen and supported on their foster care journey.

Family #20 - Located in Cottondale, 35453
This family has three young boys. An 8-year-old biological son, a 4-year-old in foster care, and a 3-year-old adopted at birth. Both the 3- and 4-year-olds are considered special needs, and the family is navigating the unique challenges that come with meeting each child’s needs. The family would benefit from support with transportation, encouragement, and occasional practical help to ease the load during busy school days.

Family #21 - Located in Coker, 35452
This foster family is currently caring for three children, including a sibling pair and an infant. One of the siblings faces challenges with social interactions due to a vision issue, while the other is full of energy and enjoys sports.
