A Tuscaloosa native, Liz Benda is serving her first year on the Tuscaloosa Angels Board. She feels called to support children and families impacted by foster care and believes deeply in the power of community to create stability, dignity, and hope for every child. She is honored to serve an organization that walks alongside foster families, ensuring they are seen, supported, and encouraged.
Professionally, Liz serves as the Executive Officer for the Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa, where she oversees membership and operations and coordinates strategic events that strengthen the local building industry. Prior to HBAT, she worked in economic development for the City of Tuscaloosa, actively recruiting commercial and retail businesses to the community. Her strengths in organization, long-term strategy, and thoughtful planning allow her to contribute meaningfully to the board’s mission, particularly in cultivating partnerships and increasing local engagement. She received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and her Master's from The University of Alabama.
Liz is passionate about using her gifts to create tangible impact and to faithfully serve the community she has always called home. Outside of her professional and board service, she enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and tending to her beehives, a hobby that has deepened her appreciation for stewardship, patience, and the beauty of working together toward a common purpose. She and her husband live in Pelham with their dog, Edel.
